About Dusty ~ Husky x (on trial 1/10/18)
Hi, my name is Dusty and I’m a very pretty female 2 year old Husky X. My foster parents aren’t sure what I’m crossed with but they think it might be Shar Pei due to the adorable forehead wrinkles I get when I concentrate. I’m a medium sized dog, not that I let that stop me from crawling into your lap for snuggles.
My ideal forever home is one where I’m treated as a member of the family, and I’m welcome inside when people are home. I’d prefer to be an only dog, so I don’t have to share your attention with anyone else. I get along well with other dogs and like playing with my foster sister, but I can occasionally become possessive of my people and treats. My foster parents don’t think I had the opportunity to experience the nicer things in life before now, I’m finally getting the hang of toys and of sleeping inside.
I’m not overly interested in ball games, I prefer to chase my foster sister than the ball. Occasionally I like to join you on the bed, but generally I like to curl up on my bed on the floor or on the couch to sleep at night.
I am house trained and will go outside to use the bathroom, I had a few accidents my first night but haven’t since. I learn quickly, anything to make you happy and get a treat. In my short time in foster care I’ve learnt to sit and wait patiently for my dinner, sit and drop. My favourite treats are anything but vegetables. I generally only eat veggies to stop my foster sister from eating them, if she likes them I have to eat them right?
I don’t bark, unless I hear something unexpected or there is a commotion at the door, but if you tell me everything’s okay I settle down right away. I do have a habit of jumping up to greet you, which is almost unnoticeable with how gentle I am, but I’m quickly learning that I get more attention if I sit quietly at your feet. I enjoy a very leisurely stroll and don’t pull on the lead, if anything I will hold you back when I stop to smell something interesting. I do occasionally dig, but that’s usually if I smell something interesting on the ground.
I wouldn’t be worried if you had to work away from home through the day, as long as I had a comfy place to lounge around on. I;d be very happy to be left with a treat ball to make me think, or some chewy treats. While I haven’t been tested off leash out in the world, my recall at home is very good and I come straight to you when you call me, especially if I think you have something tasty to share.
I’ve been very gentle with the children I’ve met, but I don’t have much exposure to them. And I’ve not met any cats or pocket pets during my time in foster care, so my parents aren’t sure how I would go with them. I enjoy travelling in the car and will either sit and watch everything go by or curl up and have a nap until we reach our destination. I’ve loved all the humans I’ve met, but I can’t wait to meet my new family. Will that be you? If so, please don’t wait to get into contact. I have so much love to give and can’t wait to start my life with you.
For more information or to meet Dusty, please contact her foster carer Jaime on Jaime-hunter@outlook.com or 0432534724. Dusty is in foster care in Newcastle area, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Dusty’s adoption fee is $350 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom of the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire: https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two-week trial begins on the day of adoption.
