About Slinki Malinki
All about me, my background and my unique personality:
I am a big, friendly kitty looking for a loving family to take me in as one of their own.
To say the last couple of weeks has been crazy would be an understatement. I somehow landed myself in a rural pound and sadly didn’t have a microchip so my family could not be contacted. When then did not come and find me, I was taken into care with Hunter Animal Rescue. I was pretty freaked out at first and spent a few days chilling in a warm hiding spot at the bottom of a cat scratcher. Then, slowly, I started coming out more and more, until I realised I was safe and then I could just be my loveable self. I’m still settling in as is the case with many adult cats, and watching my confidence grow and my snuggly self come out of my shell has been a real treat for my carer.
I’m proving to be a laid back young man. I like a simple life of lazing around the house and lots of cuddles. I have a splendid motor-boat purr and would be happy hanging with my Carer for pats all day long. When my Carer is home, I like to sit near her and generally stay in her vicinity – I would make a great companion cat. I have a real placid nature, even when new to care and truely scared; I did not growl, hiss or scratch. I allow myself to be picked up, carried around and cuddled without an issue. It doesn’t seem to be my favourite thing to do, but my foster mumma, thinks that with my smoochy nature, I would actually grow to love this quite quickly.
My adoption fee is $150, for which I come litter trained, microchipped, vaccinated, desexed, vet checked, and treated for fleas and worms. HAR offer a two week trial to ensure that My new family and I are the perfect match.
My ideal home:
I’m a low maintenance, easy going young man. I was super shy when I first came into care, so my new family will need to understand that when I first go to their home I may be a bit reserved, but it’s worth it when it once I settle. My Carer works full time and I’m happy keeping myself entertained during the day, and will then seek her our when she gets home for some special cuddle time together. If I were to go to a busy household, I would need a quieter space where I could settle before being let out into the madness, to allow me to have a safe space to escape to while I build up my confidence.
In line with HAR’s policy, my new family will need to commit to keeping me as a 100% indoor cat. This is for my safety and that of the local wildlife.
How do I interact with kids, cats, dogs and other pets?:
I came into care with another cat and have been fine with her. I am untested with dogs or children. My foster mum thinks that with my laid back personality, I would eventually be fine with them, but the introduction would need to be done thoughtfully and slowly, to help me settle with them.
