About Tank (AV1028)
So guys, my name is Tank and I’m pretty cool. My awesome foster paw-rents have helped me write this incredible bio so you can learn all about me.
I might look like a big boofa, but I am the sookiest and loving guy you could ever meet. I LOVE cuddles, laying on you, giving you kisses, and invading your personal space all in the name of affection. Most importantly, I still think I can fit into your lap, and will try to convince you I’m cat size, while trying to climb onto you lap.
Cause I’m still young and learning the right behaviour, sometimes I like to try on a little tantrum when I don’t get my way (this means dog talking, putting my paw on your leg and crying), such as when I am craving attention, or you’re sitting at the dining table and I’m not getting any human food. I’m pretty good at giving you the big googly eyes and crying to really milk the attention and guilt you into giving me your food, but I need you to stay strong and say no.
I have completed one round of puppy training and would like to be able to do more with my forever family. I know how to sit, drop (lay down), shake hands, bring toys to you when I want to initiate play time. I know with more training I would be an exceptionally mannered boofa.
I love playing with my big brother and all other dogs really, I even let my friend Olive lay all over me and pull my extra skin and ears. I would love a home with another dog, male or female, because I would benefit from the companionship and an older sibling could help me along with my doggo manners training.
If I have a meet and greet with neighbour doggos, I am happy for them to be on the other side of the fence. Otherwise I’m convinced they could be having too much fun over the fence without me and tend to jump and bark with excitement.
I love playing outside with rope, kongs (need to be the ones graded for extreme chewers as my jaws are quite strong), sticks and balls. I especially love tug of war ropes and catch. I love swimming in the pool, the beach (any water really). The hose is always fun when it’s on and I’m trying to eat the water while my foster dad tries to water plants.
I like helping tear up big palm tree leaves, so they can fit into the bin or be used as mulch. My foster family thinks it’s hilarious when I try to drag big palm tree leaves around and 10 minutes later they are mulch, the rest of the garden is nice, but doesn’t interest me too much except for when it toy play time outside.
I love kids, but due to my size and enthusiasm, I would be better around kids 8 and older; despite how gentle I try to be, I may accidentally knock over younger children. I like cats, but I am still learning that they don’t like puppy energy running at them for a big sloppy kiss. But with the right introduction, I know that we would be the best of friends.
I have a strong need to know what’s happening all throughout the house and I get excited when deliveries are made. Part of me needs to know what is being delivered and all the cool new smells that come with it and the need for me to make friends with the courier, so I can act as your own wireless doorbell when someone starts knocking.
I do enjoy my own company, and love trotting around the yard or laying in the sun. It also helps if I have a nice big bone to chew on while I’m outside. Though, I always want to be included in what my family is doing. I would need to be with a family that would let me inside and lay on the couch, my own bed, or theirs as I really am the biggest sook. I would not cope being left outside all the time.
I have tried using pet doors, but the ones at my foster family’s house are a bit too small for me, so if you measured me up and got the right ones, and the right incentives (treats), I could be enticed to use them. I am house trained, but once I have my own door it would make things so much easier.
Medical notes
When I was just a wee small pupper, I hurt my back leg really badly. I have had multiple surgeries on it (a lot to go through for such a youngster!) and my fantastic foster carers have put in SO much work helping me to do rehab and physio so that I can walk properly.
I'm always going to be a tad wonky on this leg and some on-going at-home physio stuff with you will help me stay fit and flexible. It's nothing major and I won't require further expensive treatment at all - just basic stuff at home.
Please get in touch with the nice people from SAFE and they can give you more deets, while you hurry over here to give me the treats!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
