***SASSY IS BLIND IN ONE EYE AND HAS LIMITED VISION IN THE OTHER***
TO MEET OR ADOPT SASSY, PLEASE COMPLETE AN APPLICATION: http://pawfectpals.com.au/adoption-pals/apply/
Meet Sassy, a confident, fun-loving Border Collie x Koolie girl who is full of puppy energy. Sassy is a very special girl because she is partially blind, however this does not stop her from living life to the max.
Sassy is a sweet little pup who absolutely loves her humans and follows them around wherever they go. She loves going for rides in the car and falls asleep as soon as the journey starts. Sassy is also getting use to the finer things in life - like the couch. She is more than happy to lay beside you chewing something while you watch tv.
Sassy has been well socialised with people and animals. She gets on well with other dogs and loves playing bitey face with her foster sister. She also likes stirring up her foster brothers when they don’t want to play with her.
Sassy enjoys a game of zoomies but needs to be monitored if there are obstacles around so that she does not bump into them. While in care she has learnt ‘Ahh’ means that she needs to stop so she does not hurt herself.
Sassy is learning to sit and wait for her food rather than jumping up to get it. She is also in the process of toilet training. She is doing very well and can sleep most the night inside without needing to go the toilet.
Sassy is a very smart little girl and has taught herself how to use the doggie door. She thinks the best game in the world is bolting through the door, doing a lap around the lawn and then bolting back inside through the doggie door.
Sassy loves the resident cat and tries to follow him around everywhere. She is not quite sure why he doesn’t want to play with her though and is learning that is it not ok to jump on the cat.
Sassy will require a home where someone is home most of the time or a home with another doggie companion for her as when she is left on her own she can become very anxious.
She is looking for a family that is dedicated to continuing her socialisation and training to ensure she becomes a well adjusted, happy adult.
If you can open up your home and heart to this adorable little girl please get in touch!!
See more information about her eye condition under medical notes below
Medical notes
Sassy was born with very small eyes as a result of two merle dogs breeding together.
The right eye is completely covered and can only be seen on ultrasound. At this present time this eye is not bothering her. In the future her eyelids may fold in and rub on it causing it to become infected. If this happens she may need the eye removed. This eye has no vision.
Her left eye has some vision, and is developing a cataract. Cataract surgery may be needed in a few months when the cataract has matured.
Possible complications of Sassy’s eye conditions may include: infection, persistent eye inflammation, cataract progression, retinal detachment and vision loss.
Sassy will require a recheck at the specialist in a couple of months, which will be covered by the rescue group.
