About Bear ~ Rottweiler (on trial 10/7/2018)
Please allow me to introduce myself. I’m Papa Bear and it’s a pleasure to meet you! Don’t be afraid of my typical Rottie looks – as a book should never be judged by its cover. Let me tell you all about me… I’m a 4 year old boy with a debonair gentleman’s attitude who loves the ladies.
As young as I am, I’m old and wise and just like to relax and watch the world go by. Don’t get me wrong – I love going down to the doggie park town for a run and play but any other time I’m lounging on the couch or my bed or my humans bed when allowed – and sometimes when not.
I am a protector. I will sit by your side and try and sneak in as many hugs and kisses you will give me. I will do the fence border patrol to ensure no one comes to harm you. I won’t bite but I look mean and tough and sometimes that’s all it takes. Leaves me feeling a little judged though which is totally unfair.
So I live with my foster human who already has a female cat and female 10 year old Kelpie x Cattle princess. I love the ladies and would need to be the only male around to keep such hotties company. I won’t let any other male dog step on my territory. I also admit I’m not too sure about the cat. She doesn’t seem to want to get some loving from the Papa Bear. So really, I want to be around the ladies who wish to look past my mean exterior into my gentle heart.
I’m pretty quiet. I will only bark when and if necessary. Even when dogs walk by my place, I like to investigate but won’t make much, if any noise. I don’t try to run away or jump the fence. I do like to let them know I’m here though by pounding on the fence – yeah, and being a heavy boy – kinda may have dented it a little. Sorry about that – but when you love someone, you love all their faults right.
I know my rules and I’m a good boy who wants to impress you. I can sit, stay, lie down, come to you when called, get on my bed, eat when told, jump up to give you cuddles and know how to be your best friend. That all comes for free and no training required. Although I do like to help you cook though – which may not be the best thing and need to work on that. Maybe a few other things to fine tune to your liking but I’m up for it.
My foster human has introduced me to only two kids in my time with her. They were over the ages of 12. I gave one a hug and that was pretty cool. I’m a gentle giant. I haven’t had the opportunity to spend more time with them or be around younger ones. I like the quiet relaxed life and don’t want to be spending time around noisy things. I’m not sure how I’d react with too much of that kinda stuff going on all the time. So any younger humans I’d prefer to be of teenage years to hang and chill with.
So having lived with fur ladies all my life so far, I’m not too keen on other fur men wanting to get a look in. I’m pretty selective with whom I like to mingle. I like the older ladies to be honest – ones with a laid back outlook on life and who would love to spend time with the Big Papa. I could possibly meet a few younger ones, but need to take them on a date first. They may get a second if I think she is the one.
So you want to come on a date with me? I seriously won’t disappoint. Pending where you are, I’ll get my human to chauffer me to meet on neutral territory for a first date. If interested, how about filling out a dating application form so I can look over?? No doubt I will be getting tonnes and will take my time to read over to find my perfect match – cause who wouldn’t want a piece of the Papa Bear.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
