Hello. 😊 I’m Tige. I’m a 30+ kg, 1 yearish old, knee high, de-sexed, male Boxer- (English) Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross. I’ve got the coat and physique of a boxer but luckily I got the brains of a Staffy. This means I find it somewhat easy to learn (especially by positive reinforcement). It also means I love pats, cuddles, hanging around with you - wherever you go - and, if you’ll let me – I’ll happily take over your bed and couch. Although I’m not really allowed to with my foster carer, but that’s OK because as long as I get the love I need it doesn’t bother me too much.
I am very loyal and friendly with people and with dogs. I really want to play with them all, although I’m not sure about how I am with children because I haven’t really had the experience. I think I’ll love them and get equally excited about meeting them as I am about meeting people in general. I am not sure about how I am with cats but I do like watching the possums at night.
I do get excited, though. It’s always great to see you when I wake up or when you come home. Or to see new people too. Sometimes I’m so excited to see you and new people (especially after I’ve woken up) that I forget to go to the toilet before wanting your pats. If I’ve got a full bladder a little might have to make way for my love of seeing you. I’m trying to get better at this. I can also get a bit jumpy and barky when excited, but I am learning to control myself because what I really want is to be around you, and it seems like people don’t always like that. So I need you to continue to help me learn control so that we can have a really happy life together.
I love walks. I get really excited about them too and I used to be quite difficult to walk, but I am getting better with the Halti collar. Everything is just so interesting. I want to see and smell it all – and straight away.
I don’t like everything though. I really don’t like shouting or quickly raised arms. I think I might have had some bad experiences with this before. I try not to think about those times because times are now so good and that was all before. It’s not so bad, really, but it makes me feel a little scared and I then get confused and make mistakes but only because I don’t want to make mistakes. Oh it’s so complicated, sometimes… So I need someone who can understand that, and give me that little bit of care and understanding when I get scared. My foster carer doesn’t mind so much because he knows I don’t get aggressive, and that I’ll be all right in a few seconds with the right calming nurturing care.
My foster carer is looking for just the right person or family for me to become part of, so he’ll want to ask you loads of questions about yourself and will tell you a lot about me before we meet because no one wants to get emotionally involved before things are spot on. I’ve already been through one rough patch, so he’ll want to make sure we are really compatible so I don’t have to go through that again.
I’m looking for you to give me the love I need and to also understands that it’s important for you to teach me how to be a great part of your life – even if it seems like a lot of work. It’s also important to understand that there might be some things from my earlier life that I’ll never really be able to forget. If you can do this for me we are sure to have many great times together.
Located Preston area.
