About Oakie ~ Miniature Fox Terrier (on trial 23/6/18)
My name is Oakie and I am a gorgeous white and black 7 month old male Miniature Fox Terrier with some beautiful orange markings on my face. I am very energetic and healthy and weigh 3.4 kg.
I love humans and kids (all ages) and animals and just want to be loved with cuddles, hugs, kisses and lots of playtime with another dog, preferably a boy. I really want to be with another small male dog under 10kg and I don’t care what breed. I am currently living with 5 other dogs all under 12kg (deaf Maltese, Jack Russell and 3 Chi’s). We all get on magnificently but I am best friends with the 2 boys (Maltese and one of the Chi’s) and like playing and wrestling with them.
I am untested with cats so I don’t know if I like them or not.
I am toilet trained and go in and out from the house to the back yard via a doggy door (with a plastic flap), and love food including the occasional smacko, nightly dentastix and puppy milk. This puppy milk gives me so much energy – yum yum yum. I am still learning how to sit on command but I am slowly making progress.
I walk on a lead but still need more practice. I know that my new family will walk me regularly. I also love to travel in a car with no problems whatsoever.
I must sleep inside every night and would prefer to sleep in a bed with a human being - please don’t kick me out of a bed as I have never experienced that.
I refuse to go to a home where:
(1) nobody is home all day
(2) I am put outside the house day or night for lengthy times
(3) I don’t have another doggy mate.
(4) I am going to be locked outside
I believe that I am a brilliant little boy who deserves nothing but the best home.
I do need some strong verbal guidance occasionally as I can get a bit over excited or too possessive for my owner – (I get a bit jealous of the other dogs getting attention) – this is why I don’t really want to live with more than 1 other dog.
I don’t bark much, jump fences, dig holes, or bite. I am fine left at home for a while but have not really been tested for a lengthy stint as my foster dad is home most of the time and has only ever left me with the other 5 pooches for about 2 hours.
My foster carer Don has told me that he is not in any hurry to adopt me out and that he will look after me until I find the perfect home no matter how long that may take. He is so wonderful to me and I know that I give him a lot of joy too. Between you and me I know that he will be extremely upset when I leave.
For more information or to meet Oakie, please contact his foster dad Don by phoning 0429082582 or emailing him on v8supercarrick@hotmail.com Oakie is in foster care in Newcastle area, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Oakie’s adoption fee is $500 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
