About Reuben DL1918
Reuben is the smallest dog with the biggest heart who will look at you with his big loving eyes and follow you everywhere you go. At age 10 he does not have his puppy energy anymore but can still be quick on his feet to run outside to use the bathroom. He is toilet trained and will not wake you up during the night to ask to go to the bathroom (he holds it until the next morning).
He loves meeting new people at the park and sniffing other dogs that are his size however he is still very anxious about larger dogs and will hide behind your feet. He walks great on the lead, never pulls and he is very direct with his walking. Reuben would be fine living with another pet such as a cat as he finds them fascinating and loves to sniff them. It would be great if he was top dog in his own household however he could cope living with another doggy friend provided they were a little bit older also pending an initial meet.
Reuben’s new owner will need to keep him on a special doggy diet and give him regular exercise as he is a little overweight (needs to lose at least a kilo) so regular walks are a must! He also needs an owner who is at home most of the time as he does not like to be left alone for long periods of time. He needs to constantly be inside where it is safe and warm as this is when he is less anxious. Due to his history Reuben does not cope well, being outside alone especially at night. If you stop patting Reuben he will paw you to remind you that he wants some more love!
If you have lots of love to share with Reuben, please email us today, at dflrescue@gmail.com, to apply.
