About Otis ~ Kelpie X (on trial 13/7/2018)
The very handsome Otis is a Kelpie boy who we are not 100% sure of his age but estimate between 2-3 years old.
This boy loves to run and chase so would be ideal for an active family that want to include their dog in their outside activities.
Otis is very gentle which is one of his endearing features. He loves nothing more then to have a cuddle and a pat. He sometimes uses his paw to remind you that he is waiting for a pat so this boy needs to be allowed to have family time.
Otis does sleep outside but is toilet trained (occasionally has a nervous wee) and will let you know with a little sook to say he needs to go out. He gets a little excited to be inside at first but will lay on his bed as long as he is with you otherwise does like to explore the house if left alone. Otis would like nothing more to be able to sleep inside.
Otis is cat friendly but with pocket pet he will stalk them, not touch them just moves around them and watches so may not be best with these pets.
Otis would love a female doggy friend. Males tend to intimidate him.
Otis is well trained and will not enter the house unless invited. He is also good off lead. He may ignore you when first let off just because he is so excited. He has been enjoying the new dog park at Speers Point. Otis is one very smart dog and would like nothing more to have further training to learn new things.
We are thinking Otis may originally have came off a farm and think he would love to live on a property again to enjoy the freedom of running around.
Otis is suitable for anyone that is active. He currently lives with young kids but might be more suitable for children over 5 years old.
As Otis is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing.
If you would like to meet Otis please contact Sharron who is taking all enquiries on 0423 331057 or email sstudley3@bigpond.com He is in care at Morisset.
Otis’ adoption fee is $400 and covers his desexing, he is also vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
