About Shay ~ Maltese x Mini Schnauzer (on trial 20/7/18)
This medium sized little male dog is called Shay and he is 9 year old Maltese x Miniature Schnauzer. He was a very happy little dog until just recently when his owners passed away quiet suddenly.
Shay was very well looked after from the moment he was adopted at the age of six months by his previous owners so he is in very good health. Since being in foster care he has mixed with many large and small dogs and gets on well. Although nervous and a little wary of new people and surroundings he adjusts quickly. He is not a nuisance barker but will bark at strangers when they enter his home.
Shay loves to drive in the car, go for daily walks and he loves the dog beach He's never been with young children so he would be better with an older person or couple. He would be perfect as a single child or great with another dog for company.
Shay needs a safe and secure yard but he is a smart and obedient dog and doesn't run off. He always comes when called.
Although Shay has never been stopped from sleeping on human beds, he prefers his own bed on the floor next to his humans bed and comes up for cuddles in the mornings.
Shay has always been an inside dog so he is fully house trained.
For more information or to meet Shay, please contact his foster carer Diane on dianecampbell4@optusnet.com.au or 0425200721. Shay is in foster care in Salamander Bay, Port Stephens, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Shay's adoption fee is $300 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
