About Bernie
***INDOOR ONLY KITTY***
Bernie is a purebred Birman born 23.01.17. Bernie LOVES attention and wants to be on your lap or getting scratches and pats, purring a lot and drools just a little too..
Bernie has a couple of unique things about him that need to be explained. He is a Calici cat. This is one of the cat flu viruses. Most cats will have come into contact with this virus in their lives without much affect but, unfortunately for Bernie he sheds and so is a carrier. Generally he wouldn't be a threat to fully vaccinated adult cats, but it would be sensible for him to be the only cat which would suit him too, as he really doesn't like cat company. He loves his humans, his food and just chilling out.
He needs to be brushed regularly as his hair is quite long. He's a big boy but actually doesn't weigh that much, less than 5kg and he's used to being an indoor only cat and is very good with his litter. He also has a slight problem in that he is a little uncoordinated but once he gets to know an area he navigates it perfectly. He's kind of like a baby I guess, stares at you wide eyed sometimes and you just wonder what he is thinking. He can still jump, play, smooch normally, just stumbles a little occasionally, is NOT in pain and doesn't ever seem to get frustrated. This condition might be the result of him having Calici as a kitten and that may have affected his brain development, but it is stable now and his quality of life doesn't seem to be diminished by it at all. We're very confident that Bernie is going to make a fabulous hot water bottle for someone this winter and he will appreciate being allowed to do so. All his vet work has been done and includes desexing, microchip, vaccinations, flea and worm treatment.
Meet and greet in Cairns.
