About Misty
Delightful Misty came to us due to her health issues. When she was surrendered to us, we were told she had spinal issues. We rushed Misty to our orthopedic surgeon for extensive x-rays. We were surprised when no abnormalities or inflammation was found in her spine at all. There was no question she had a sore back and she was diagnosed with a severe case of luxating patellas. Misty underwent surgery for her patella luxation, and her back pain quickly resolved. We are so pleased with this outcome, and since she's had her surgeries, Misty has become a different dog.
The quiet, miserable Misty is long gone, replaced by a playful and cheeky little chihuahua. Keeping Misty quiet during her recovery has been a challenge for her foster carers as she just loves to play.
Misty must go to a home with a similarly sized dog companion. She loves to play with the little dog in her foster home. Unfortunately Misty finds big dogs very overwhelming and we would prefer her to go to a home without large dogs. Misty also has a strong dislike for cats and needs a home without any feline friends!
Misty can be timid with strangers and children. She will need an owner who will give her time to bond with her new family, but rest assured that once Misty trusts you, she's incredibly devoted and loyal. Misty will bring her new family so much love, she is such a sweetheart. Misty takes great comfort in her familiar den crate for sleeping and retreating into, her Adopters must be willing to let her use a den crate. She loves it and it’s vital for her well being.
Misty is not suitable in a home with young children. She finds them overwhelming.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant X-rays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Misty had severe inflammation and pain in her hind legs due to bilateral luxating patellas. She has had surgery on both hind legs and has recovered very well. As Misty age, it is likely she will develop arthritis so a joint supplement added to her food is recommended.
