About Chief ~ 6 month old Kelpie x (on trial 11/7/2018)
Chief is a beautiful, affectionate and energetic 6-8 month old Kelpie puppy. Chief has a beautiful shiny black coat with a white chest and some cute little white socks. He has long legs which he’s still growing into and is often a bit clumsy and doesn't realise how big he is
.
Chief is very friendly with people and dogs and just loves to play. He is currently in foster care with 2 other dogs and gets along well with them. He loves to run, walk and just go anywhere and do anything with you. He loves to snuggle up on the lounge and has a lot of love to give.
Chief currently sleeps inside on his bed and spends his days inside when we’re home and outside when we’re at work. Chief is toilet trained and can go all night without an accident.
Chief understands basic commands like sit, stay, no and wait. Chief walks nicely on the lead, but we haven’t had him off the leash so he will need training on his recall. Chief waits politely until given the command to eat, and also takes treats gently. He is very smart and also food oriented which means he is able to pick things up quickly, but his forever family will need to continue his training. Chief is still easily excited and jumps up and sometimes nips. He likes to chew, but usually just sticks to dog toys and sticks, but has been caught chewing his rug and shoes. Chief is a sweet dog who just needs someone willing to show him the do’s and don'ts of appropriate behaviour, with patience and consistent reinforcement.
Chief is very affectionate, but sometimes he forgets he isn't a little puppy anymore. Because of this his energy levels would best be matched with older children, who are confident with his exuberance, and won’t get knocked over with his excitement. Chief needs a family who will include him in their lives as he is a very loyal and loving companion.
For more information or to meet Chief, please contact his foster carer Aimee on aimeekwolf@gmail.com Chief is in foster care in Fern Bay, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Chief’s adoption fee is $500 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
