About Gemma ~ Cattle Dog x (on trial 24/7/18)
Hi there, my name is Gemma, I am a 10 year old Cattle Dog cross (possibly with Border Collie but I have really cute Jack Russell ears). I weigh 22kgs and would be classed as a medium sized dog. I have a bit of a mum tum because I've had lots of puppies, but that’s one of the many reasons that make me so special. I am ready to find my special someone to be their little shadow.
My favourite things include cuddles, pats, belly rubs, rolling in the grass, going in the car and exploring. My foster Mum thinks I am a crack up when I’m full of beans and loves to watch me bolt around the house or back yard, so I would love a big back yard to run around in and enjoy.
As I’ve gotten fitter my foster family have seen an active side of me so a walk and an active family are important. I love playing with a jolly ball strung from a tree with my foster brother, I also love playing with soft toys, occasionally I’ll bring a tennis ball back but I’m still learning about that game.
I also walk into the dam but I’m not game enough to swim yet, I might try it in summer when it’s real hot!
I'm very food orientated and learn very quickly. I know the words leave it, sit and come really well. I’ve recently learnt lay down and shake. I’m still struggling with stay but I’ll get there with more practice. It’s not that I’m naughty I just prefer to be really, really close to you.
I am also good on the lead and do not usually pull. I’m not destructive and I do not dig or pull clothes off the line etc. I’m also very, very well toilet trained and know certain rooms are out of bounds, so I make an excellent inside dog where I can be very much involved in the day to day life of my new family. It is important to me that I am allowed inside.
I’ve loved playing with the neighbours kids (they are over six years of age) and their dogs, and I’ve also visited disabled people and both of which I was very gentle.
I would like a doggy friend for company but if you were home a lot I would be fine without one but I would not be suited to a home with a bossy female dog living in the house or cats.
I am currently living on property with 1.2m mesh fencing with a wire strand at 1.5m, now that I am comfortable here I do not jump it but at first my foster parents left me in the laundry when they had to go out so I was safe otherwise I would jump it when they would leave as I had real bad separation anxiety. I just needed routine, reassurance and time for me to settle in and know that I was safe.
I truly am a bundle of affection and if you are after a gentle dog who will love you unconditionally and provide you with ongoing companionship, please get in contact with my foster mum.
For more information or to meet Gemma, please contact her foster carer Chelsea on chelseakim9018@gmail.com or 0477977167. Gemma is in foster care in Clarence Town, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
