About Rusty
Super adorable and *so* loving, Rusty is a sociable companion bursting with the joy of life and still keen to learn something new every day!
Hugely curious, bright and affectionate, senior lad Rusty loves his jaunts on the bus (where he'll sit quietly on your lap) or to the pub (where he'll lay happily at your feet). He just LOVES being around his humans!
With a few (fairly minor) bad habits to break, this beautiful old man will be best suited to a person, couple or family willing to invest the time and effort in ongoing behavioural training.
**We ask all people looking to adopt to fill in our adoption enquiry form at http://www.maggiesrescue.org/adoption-enquiry-dogs. Please use this link rather than the 'Enquire' button on the pet's PetRescue profile.**
MY IDEAL HOME: I'm keen to spend as much time as possible with my lovely new humans, so at least one person will need to be home for most of the day (and let me hang out with them!). I've got a fair bit of energy and imagination for an older fellow, and I love to zoom around the house rustling up adventures!
I can get a bit cranky when I'm tired - a little territorial sometimes, too - so my new family will need to understand when I need my space.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Really high for my age! I can walk for up to two hours and still want to press on! I'll need at least one good walk every day, but preferably two :)
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I really enjoy spending time with kids, but there are times when I can be a bit grumpy so they'll need to be aware of this.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I *love* cats - but that they don't like me at all, for some reason! Apparently we're 'not a good match', so no cats in my new household please.
I'm well-behaved around other dogs - usually curious to indifferent - but when it comes to permanent companionship, I'm quite fussy! I'm most likely to make firm friends with a placid, calm dog, so I look forward to meeting yours and seeing how we get along!
*In foster care in Erskineville, Sydney*
Medical notes
Rusty has a heart murmur, which is presently causing no ill health. He also has a limp in his rear left leg due to a past injury that appears to have been left untreated. He copes fine with this, though may require painkillers at some point. Maggie's Rescue will discuss these issues in further detail with interested adopters.
Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill in our adoption enquiry form at http://www.maggiesrescue.org/adoption-enquiry-dogs. Please use this link rather than the 'Enquire' button on the pet's PetRescue profile to streamline your enquiry.
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
