About Jessie ~ 5 month old Mastiff X (on trial 30/7/18)
Everyone meet Jessie! Jessie is a 6 month old Mastiff X who just adores everybody and who cannot wait to find her forever family. Jessie is the most loving girl you will ever meet, she loves to play but is also the best cuddle buddy ever.
Jessie currently lives with another big dog and they absolutely love each other. These two love to run around together in the backyard and play-wrestle all day long. After a nice play, Jessie loves to lay on the lounge for a rest. Jessie currently also lives with two cats, but she chases them whenever she sees them because she thinks its playtime. So she would suit a home without cats or pocket pets around.
She would love to be inside when someone is home as she just wants to be with her humans and should sleep inside. She can be crated and also sleeps through the night in her bed in her carers bedroom but would love to sneak into your bed or onto the lounge to cuddle at night, if allowed!
Jessie just adores children, but she is going to be a big dog, she would be more suited to a family without young children at this point, as she does jump occasionally, especially when she has not had a play or walk to get rid of her energy. Please consider the age and size of your children upon application.
Her ideal home would be a family, couple or individual that have another dog as she thrives with a furry friend by her side. She's very easy to handle and is very low maintenance if she has a playmate and can easily be left home alone if there is another dog around to keep her company. She would also be suited as an only dog, but this would only be considered if the applicant is home more often than not and is willing to give her the exercise and play that she needs. In case of her being an only dog, she'd need to be walked daily. She has very strong pull on the lead but this is easily corrected with a Halti, with which she walks nicely on the lead.
She's super clever and knows how to sit, lay down and waits for her food like the good girl she is. She's in the process of learning more and more and learns very quickly. Jessie is a food focused girl which makes her a treat to train and teach cool tricks. She is toilet trained and goes to the door when she needs to but she is still a puppy and it needs to be made sure that she can relieve her bladder every now and then and be taken outside before bed and after (if you're wanting to prevent any accidents from happening inside.) She's not a barker. If she does ever bark, she stops as soon as you tell her no.
Yes, Jessie is still a puppy, but she does not use her mouth when playing with you, she does not chew on things that are not her toys and she knows the word no, listens well and learns incredibly quick with positive reinforcement. She has not tried to jump our 5ft fencing and has not managed to escape out of a secure yard.
Jessie is the sweetest girl with the biggest puppy eyes ever. One look in her eyes makes your heart melt. If you're looking for a furry child who loves nothing more than to be near you and who will forever love you and be loyal to you, then Jessie is your girl.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
