About Bentley π
Introducing Bentley, a Cattle x Bulldog mix. This handsome boy arrived in care at just 7 weeks old, along with his 5 litter mates. Bentley is currently being fostered in a home with 2 host dogs, 1 host cat, and of course, his humans. He is a typical active, playful puppy who demands attention from his humans at all times. He is not bothered about the host cat and enjoys hanging out with his big host doggies, although does get a little overwhelmed and frightened when the big dogs are running around and wrestling. Bentley is not currently living with children, but has been exposed to them during his time in care. He is quite happy to accept cuddles from anyone willing to offer them.
Bentley sleeps with his brother, Benji (also available for adoption) in a crate inside, and is slowly learning the routine in his foster home. At this stage, no formal training has been introduced but basic commands will be introduced shortly. We believe Bentley is a fast learner and would love the challenge of ongoing training. Bentley has shown no food aggression or dominance while in foster care.
Cattle dogs are loyal, smart and high energy dogs. If you're looking for a lounge lizard, this breed is not for you. They are protective of their family and need to be socialised with other dogs and people from a young age. They are also great family dogs and love to play interactive games like fetching a tennis ball or catching a frisbee. Cattle dogs also tend to nip when playing, so a firm, consistent leader is necessary for training, otherwise this breed will rule the roost!
We are looking for a family or person who is willing to put in the time and effort with training and socialisation for Bentley. He does not cope well with being left on his own, so would ideally be suited to a home where he had the company of his humans/canine friends majority of the time, or the opportunity to come to work with you! He would need continued socialisation with other dogs during the puppy stage and into adulthood, as well as ongoing training so that he grows up to be a well mannered and socialised boy. We believe that Bentley will be a medium dog when fully grown.
We would love to help get you started with that, so our amazing supporters, Best Friends - Erina, have kindly offered to include a 5 week Puppy training course with all of our Puppy adoptions (up to 16wks of age)....The Best Friends Puppy Pre-School service is a fun and interactive five-week training course that covers puppy behaviours, diet, health, grooming, exercise and play, with an emphasis on socialisation, command training, health and care. Their aim is to teach you positive ways to train your puppy in basic skills such as βsitβ, βdropβ, βstayβ, and how to walk well on a lead, but also how to control your puppyβs not so desirable behaviours like toileting inside, biting, mouthing and separation anxiety.
Bentley is booked in for desex on Tuesday 5th June, so will be ready to head off to his new home from Friday 8th June. Meets can be organised prior to this....Bentley is located in Narara, on the Central Coast, NSW.
