Medical Notes - Cedar has eyelid agenesis and is vision impaired. His new family will need to monitor his eyes as they grow. He requires daily eye lubricant to keep his eyes moist as he can't properly blink, and occasionally needs his eyes gently wiped with some warm water. These are just a normal human eye lubricant that can be picked up off the shelf at any chemist very cheaply. INDOOR HOME ONLY!

Our gorgeous little Cedar arrived to our rescue as a tiny little 4 week old kitten and had some very obvious abnormalities with his eyes. Cedar has been assessed by our vets, and has also been over to see the Eye Specialists at the Opthamology Specialist Centre. Cedar has "Eyelid Agenesis" which is an abnormality with his eyelids. He was born with parts of his eyelids completely missing. When he arrived into care he had ulcers in both of his eyes due to the fact that he wasn't being properly cared for. Our vets have fixed up his ulcers, and made his eyes comfortable and pain free.

The Specialist Opthamology team believe surgery isn't necessary for our little boy, and feel his eyes are comfortable enough how they are. Cedar can definitely see something - how much, we're not too sure. His foster carer says that he loves to climb up to the top of the cat tower (it's very high), finds his way around the house without much issue, and always finds his food and litter box without problems. His eyes don't slow him down one bit as he knows no different and has been vision impaired from birth.

Cedar is VERY smoochy and at times can try and steal the attention away from his foster siblings during their meet and greets. He loves children as long as they understand that they need to be gentle with him and handle him kindly. He also lives with other cats and dogs which he gets along with well. He will need to go to a home where the other animals will be gentle and respectful to him. Cedar must go to an INDOOR ONLY HOME for his own safety and this will be confirmed before any potential applications are considered.
