About Max
FOSTER TO ADOPT HOME Needed in BRISBANE: Please read carefully before applying.
Max is a papillon x chihuahua puppy who came into care with a badly broken leg requiring multiple surgeries. When we have a long-term foster, we love it when they can be fostered by the family who will eventually adopt them when they are cleared for adoption. Max is a typical puppy, very playful and full of beans.
Max's foster carer did intend to adopt him, however, the family has decided not to after all. Max is about to have his third (and hopefully final) leg surgery and we'd really love him to be recovering from this ordeal with the stability of a family who will be keeping him. He needs to bond and settle.
Max will not be cleared for adoption for another three months minimum, meaning that he needs to remain a CRQ foster dog until that time. This means foster guidelines must be agreed to:
- Max's surgeon is at Jindalee. He needs continuity of care. Max's carer needs to be able to take him to weekly vet visits at Jindalee during the next few months.
- Max will require physio and laser acupuncture. All costs will be covered by CRQ however, this vet is located at Jindalee in the same building as our surgeon so it's important that Max continues this holistic care.
- Max is very small he is under 2kgs. We will not place him in a home with children under 8. He has had a badly broken leg and needs rest and recovery.
- Max will be on strict crate rest for 6 weeks after surgery. A soft crate under his foster carers work desk has worked very well, but Max's family must understand he can't run around like a normal puppy over the next few months.
- CRQ cover the cost of all vet work, supply generous care packs of everything Max will need, and send out monthly preventatives. We have a strong network of support including foster liaisons and a trainer on our team.
Please only apply for Max if you're able to take him to his vet visits. Max's adoption fee will apply when he is cleared for adoption.
Medical notes
Max's medical notes will be added soon.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant X-rays and medical notes.
