About Sophie ~ Pomeranian (on trial 23/5/2018)
Hello, my name is Sophie, a 5 year old Pomeranian and my foster mum calls me Little Miss Glamour puss. Of course I think she's a bit over the top but hey, everyone who sees me calls me all the beautiful names under the sun so maybe she isn't wrong.
I am a gorgeous, cute and very friendly with everyone I meet. I do bark at first until I get to know you and will also bark to let you know someone is at the door. My foster mum, who adores me, is getting me use to belly rubs and I just love a scratch around my ears and neck. I gently tap you not to stop. I'm an inside dog and always slept on my owner’s and my foster mum’s bed but I do like my own space on there. I curl up into a small ball, completely covered under my blanket and sleep all night.
I'm totally toilet trained and haven't used a doggy door before. My foster mom is always telling me what a good girl I am as I've never had an accident in my foster home even when left home for a few hours. I do bark a little when you leave to go out but do settle after you have gone. When you return home to me I do a little dance and bounce around with excitement. I sometimes like to be in another room on my own but also like to lay beside you on the lounge.
I can get anxious in the car but I'm getting better. I get very frightened of loud noises and sudden movements and need to be assured all is okay. My foster mum feels it's best not to take me on walks as it is overwhelming to me, the traffic, people walking about and other dogs all frightens me. I exercise myself by running around in the safety of my backyard and love to play fetch with my tennis ball. I also love to explore around the yard when I'm outside.
I am a fussy eater and my foster mum has had a big task to get me to eat different things. My favourites are chicken, beef and lamb off cuts, tuna and salmon. I only eat small amounts at each meal time, well I have to watch my figure!
The vet has recently found that my back left knee pops out and possibly will need treatment in the future. This isn't causing me to be in any pain and doesn't restrict me in anyway to being active.
My foster mum is seeking an older person or retired couple living in a peaceful environment with a relaxed lifestyle. I would be best suited with being the only pet - no other dogs or cats, visiting grandchildren would be fine as long as they know to be very gentle with me.
My foster mum tells me that she loves me so much and obviously will miss me terribly when I leave but she is determined to find me a loving, caring home so she can help other fur babies to find their special home. I'm so looking forward to being your loving special girl.
If you would like to meet Sophie please contact Deborah who is Sophia’s foster mum on 0413 644 028 or email Sharron who is taking enquiries on sstudley3@bigpond.com. Sophie is located at Kotara South and is available for adoption interstate.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
