About Blue ~ 18 month old Koolie (on trial 30/7/18)
Derek Zoolander move over, our super attractive Koolie, Blue Steel is in town! Blue is 14 months old, full of youthful energy and won’t give his heart to just anyone. (Ok he will really, but his foster mum has some conditions!)
Blue is a working breed and as such, is going to need an owner who understands what that means for his day to day life. This is not a dog to leave in the backyard. He is going to need lots of exercise and more importantly lots of things to keep his brain occupied. He has a super light frame and great attention for training, so he could have potential for agility or dog sports. He is an able jumper. He would also love a home with regular outings where he can stretch his legs and go on holiday adventures.
He will need to catch up on some basic manners training, but in a short time has come along way with his behaviour whilst in care. Initially he was very anxious, but has now learnt to settle on a mat and enjoy quiet time in the yard with his foster brothers, a Kelpie and a Cavalier. Blue adores people and kids, but is too jumpy for small children.
Obviously his eyes are a feature, but his coat adds to his beauty. He is super soft to cuddle, which is a good thing, because cuddles with this boy are not negotiable. He is not content to sit at your feet, he likes close contact. This is important for whoever adopts him to know, once bonded, he really likes to be close. We think Blue has missed out on a lot in his first year, but he is embracing every new experience and encounter with bouncy puppy exuberance and joy.
Being pretty is just the cherry on top for an owner who doesn’t see that first, but realises his potential as an incredibly smart and active dog and will provide him with appropriate training and positive reinforcement to see him shine. Blue currently sleeps indoors and does a great job with no accidents inside. He is not yet free of puppy destructor chewing however! He will need a decent sized yard and secure fencing.
If you would like to meet Blue, please email his carer Jen on jenncaine@gmail.com Blue is in foster care in Newcastle area, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Blue’s adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
