About Angus
Gus has asked us to add this information after some disappointment of people enquiring and going through the matching process but then withdrawing at the last minute and not coming to meet him;
1. Gus is in foster care on a rural property between Horsham and Dimboola. That is 4 hours away from Melbourne. You have to travel to meet Gus we will not transport him.
2. Gus is looking for a home where he will not be left home alone for extensive periods of time.
3. Gus is looking ideally for a home with a young family or middle aged couple. He has come from a home with a senior couple that could not keep up with his activity level.
4. Gus barks a bit when uncertain or super excited. He just can't contain himself.
5. Gus is looking for a home where he will be an inside boy.
6. Gus loves having doggy play dates and is good with cats.
7. Gus needs someone committed to providing him more training.
If you have ticked yes to the above please continue to read.
Introducing Gus (Angus) the Cocker Spaniel boy that will melt your heart but also make you laugh at his antics. Gus is an active boy that is super smart and needs to be a part of a family that has time to continue his training, engage him in everyday activities and accept the fact that he will be a shadow.
Gus has a cheeky side where he likes to collect and carry items around the house. He has not been found to be a chewer but he is certainly a carrier. Gus is still working on his toilet training - when wet and cold he is difficult to get to go outside, so needs consistent reinforcement.
Gus is showing some signs of a little anxiety but he has had some significant changes to his life. He has come from a loving home but one that let him get away with a fair bit. In new environments Gus can be unsure and is vocal - barking and or sooking. Gus would not cope being home alone all day so a home with cross over shift workers or part time workers would be perfect. Gus has recently been crate trained for sleeping at night. He is a cuddle bug so loves evenings laying on the couch with his humans. Gus is a very active boy and he loves having doggy play dates, but initially he is very submissive. He does not cope with dominant and full on dogs.. Gus is pretty good with cats, but does try and get them to play with him so needs to be a dog savvy/tolerant cat.
Essentials for Gus are; Indoor / Outdoor dog, Time snuggling up to his humans, committment to his continued training, not being left home alone more than 5 hours per day, opportunities for Gus to have play dates with other dogs or living in a home with another dog.
Gus will go to his new home vet checked, vaccinated, flea and worm treated, flea and worm treated and microchipped.
The main element we are looking for is a home that will have the time and commitment for Gus long term.
