About Bonnie ~ Border Collie X (on trial 19/5/18)
This petite young lady is Bonnie. She is a Border Collie cross and we are thinking Kelpie due to her ears. Because Bonnie is tiny in stature she could be crossed with something smaller like a Foxie. She currently weighs under 10kgs and the vet feels she is around 6 months old.
Bonnie was saved from the pound so we are not sure of her history. She came into care quite scared but everyday is growing in confidence. She is a smart little thing and learning new things very quickly. Bonnie can now sit and come when called. She still jumps up when she sees you but is being taught to sit for attention. She loves being around you and has bonded very quickly with her foster family. Bonnie loves attention and curls up on your lap for a snuggle.
Bonnie was/is quite overwhelmed with new experiences but once she does things once she is fine after that. Bonnie is enjoying her walk and walking really well with her harness and tends to walk beside you or behind at this stage. She is not quite sure of people on bikes and will stop and bark. Bonnie needs someone to be able to continue with her training and taking her to training classes would be very beneficial. She is barking a little in the yard when she sees people passing by but she can see through the fence.
Bonnie is sleeping inside on her foster mum’s bed and will sleep through the night without accidents as long as she is taken out just before bed. Her toilet training is coming along but still needs some attention. At this stage she is needing to be taken out on a regular basis.
Bonnie is currently living with two medium dogs and a kitten. She loves to play with the other dogs but on first introductions has been a little wary but doesn’t take long to warm up. Bonnie is intrigued by the kitten and at this stage is showing a little too much interest so they are kept apart unless well supervised so at this stage maybe not cat friendly. Not that she would hurt a cat but we think would give chase.
Bonnie is a very sweet and good tempered dog. She would really like a new home to call her own. She wouldn’t suit someone working huge hours but if she had another friend to play with would be fine at home for periods of time. Bonnie would be good with children over 8 years old and doesn’t necessarily need another doggy companion although it would be nice.
If you are interested in meeting Bonnie, please contact Sharron on 0423331057 or email sstudley3@bigpond.com. Bonnie is located at Merewether Heights and is available for adoption interstate.
Bonnie’s adoption fee is $500 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
