About Gunner ~ Kelpie x Cattle Dog (on trial 1/8/18)
Meet Gunner, a 3 Year Old Kelpie X Cattle Dog. Gunner is a little on the larger size due to his Cattle Dog figure but has the heart of a Kelpie. Gunner is currently in foster with 2 other Kelpies and gets along well with both. He does get a little nippy when another dog is in his face 24/7 but we have been working on that and has been very well behaved for a good period of the time now.
Gunner is still young and full of life, he can sometimes get a little overly excited when you get home but that's just because he has so much love to give and can't wait for your return. He understands basic commands like sit, stay and lay down, but there is always room for improvement and further training would be very beneficial for this very smart dog. Gunner needs a family that understands the cattle dog and kelpie breeds rather well.
Exercise and mental stimulation is an important part of a working dogs life style, otherwise they can go a little crazy and get into mischief. A home with another companion would be good for Gunner whilst family is away at work or school but he can more than happily relax on his own. He enjoys his personal space as well as company.
During the week whilst I am at work Gunner stays outside, and of a night time sleeps out. He receives special treatment on weekends which allows him to sleep inside, either on the bed or in the lounge room. Gunner is house trained and loves cuddling up.
If you have any further questions or would like to meet with Gunner, don't hesitate to message his foster carer Hayden at haydenrbell@hotmail.com Gunner is currently located at his foster home in Raymond Terrace vicinity and is available for adoption interstate.
Gunner’s adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.
Medical notes
Happy and healthy dog
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
