About Koby
Koby is a purebred American Bulldog who was born in March 2017 as one of a litter of four. He became a foster fail to a wonderful young family who also foster cats, dogs, rabbits and own chooks. Koby went to obedience school as soon as he finished his puppy vaccinations where he was able to socialise with a range of dogs and people and work on a variety of skills. He has been a valued member of his family spending a lot of time indoors which means he is fully toilet trained.
Unfortunately for Koby his family have moved for work and are now living In home that is not safe nor suitable for a dog of his size. He weighs just shy of 40kg and is a typical bulldog, lean and well muscled. He walks very well on a lead but as he is still a puppy he does get excited when approaching doggy friends and will need someone interested in continued training who is also strong enough to control a bouncy playful puppy. Koby has great recall as he is a very loyal companion so once he has bonded to his owner he is good off lead. He also knows the sit, stay, come, drop, heel, stand, shake, spin and look commands.
Koby has been raised with other animals and is great with all animals as long as they are confident around him. Being a young dog he can get caught up in the excitement if the chooks start flapping and get a little carried away so will be best monitored if to be homed with free ranging birds.
Koby’s down time is spent relaxing with the family, and he is crate trained which makes down time a calm and enriching time of the day. Koby is just reaching social and sexual maturity at 14 months of age and has just started to bark at new faces and has been known to growl when out on walks at those approaching him. This can be a time when dogs begin to learn new behaviours and Koby needs a home who can give him confidence and teach him to rely on them for protection. For this reason we would advise he not be rehomed to another young family as children can be unpredictable at times and Koby will benefit from a calm and consistent environment.
