About Zephyr (On Trial)
I have been at kennels since October 2017 and I’m finally ready for a couch, please. I have some medical stuff going on (but remember, if you foster me, all vet bills will be covered by Greyhound Rescue) and this means I’m unable to be desexed until I’m a bit healthier, but I do have a temporary implant in place of it for now. I’ll, therefore, need a foster home where I am the only pet (though I am okay with other dogs in the long term).
I’ve had quite a rough start in life. It’s not nice to talk about, but I’ve had minimal socialisation and interaction with humans, though I find all the kennel volunteers nice and not at all scary. Because of this, I need a kind, patient foster carer who can give me a LOT of love, as I really do have so much to give in return, I’m still just learning how.
I used to be left alone for hours and hours at a time, and gosh, that was pretty horrible for me. As such, I really need at least one of my carers to be home with me more often than not. Maybe you work from home? Maybe you’re retired? Whatever the situation, I’m sure that once you spend a bit of time in my company you won’t be in a hurry to go anywhere anyway!
If you have kids, please note I’m best suited to those over 10 years old, as I’m a big boy and could knock the little ones over. I wouldn’t mean it, of course. I just move like the wind.
I’d be over the moon if you have a backyard as I have energy to burn and would benefit from plenty of space. Above all, I really need an understanding carer or family that will be patient and kind while introducing me to the wonder and kindness of a world I’ve never known.
If you think you’re up for this undoubtedly rewarding task, please contact the volunteers at info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Adoption details
Once we have found your new greyhound we will send you an application form to complete and return. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks. We have dogs that are small dog and cat friendly.
We expect greyhounds to be 'indoor dogs' and not left alone for long periods of time. Ideally they would have a doggy or human friend for company most of the time.
