About Ricky
Hi new family – I hope you are reading this because you saw my pictures and fell head over heels in love with me and just had to have me in your life! Well, let me introduce myself, my name is Ricky, although I also hear my foster mum call me little bean, peanut, and good boy. Well, that’s just it too, I’m also a male dog – but don’t worry, I won’t be cocking my leg to pee on your couch any time soon because I have been perfectly toilet trained.
I’m still a little boy at just 4 months and a little bit old. My birthday is December 25th, so you will never forget it! I’m still in my puppy phase so I really love my toys. Soft toys are my favourite to chew on. When I meet you, I may jump up a little, that’s my puppy excitement at all the new smells. My foster has been helping me learn not to jump up at people by exposing me to lots of new smells so I don’t jump as much anymore. When I meet new people, I love to get a really good sniff of your shoes – that seems to be where all the good ground smells get built up, but I also will stare at you with my big puppy eyes and beg you for a pat! I love pats, scratch me almost anywhere on my tummy and my leg goes crazy. It’s a pretty cool party trick.
I love other dogs, playing with my foster sister and brother is my favourite. They are full grown Danes and Dane crosses so I know how to play big, but Foster mum has also introduced me to little dogs too, and I play super gentle with them. When I meet new dogs for the first time I give out a little play bark, then I am happy to go in for a sniff. I like to be reassured when meeting new dogs so I appreciate your pats and telling me it’s okay. I need a minute to warm up and then I’m off!
I have only just had my needles that let me go out and walk in public places, so I haven’t been on too many on leash walks outside my house. I walk pretty well on a lead, but I like to have someone to follow, so if you have an older dog, let me walk behind them and lead the way. At the moment, I have been happy with a good one hour of enrichment and play at home and then I just sleep the rest of the day away.
I have been working so hard on my training at the moment so my forever family loves me and my tricks. I am crate trained – so I’d love it if you had a crate. I can spend up to 5 hours in my crate at the moment before I need to come out for a bathroom break. Foster mum has been working with me adding 10min at a time. I know how to sit, how to drop and how to wait for my dinner. I am also good with cats! How great. I love to snuggle up with my foster cat sister on the couch. I am toilet trained too, just give me constant access to the outdoors via a doggy door or open door, or take me out every 4 hours. I am untested with chickens and livestock. I love kids! Big ones and little ones, please always supervise me with children – just in case I knock them over. I love the car and my crate training has made me confident and happy to be left at home on my own – I do like to have a toy with me in both situations though.
My foster mum is away from home between 5 and 10 hours a day, I just spend this time outside with my foster brother and sister. We have a safe secure yard with lots of toys, shade, beds and water to chill in. I love love love my toys and treats and will work for play and food when training! My favourite food is all food so I’ll be happy with any treats but peanut butter in a Kong is pretty amazing! I am a happy little puppy and just like to do my own thing. I love a good nap, so if you provide me with a cosy bed, couch and mat I’ll just lounge around all day and swap place to place where I sleep. I love pats and cuddles too, overall I’m just a happy little pup who has his basics down pact so I would make a great dog for my new family. So, would I make the perfect addition to your home?
