About Essex (AV1016)
Hey hey, I'm Essex and I'm very pleased to meet you.
I'm one mighty handsome lad, right?
I'm super friendly too. Now, as you can see, I'm just 6 months old and I'm a pure bred border collie. We are a super smart breed of dog and for generations, my family have been hard-working sheep dogs.
That means that I'm incredibly intelligent and quick-witted with a brain that is wired to do a job for hours a day. Working hard tires out both mind and body so it is imperative that I find a new family who are committed to keeping me stimulated in lots of ways.
I'm not a dog who will just chill in your yard all day. I crave love, attention, time and jobs to do. I'll need to be walked every day, preferably twice, and taken to fun places like the beach and the park. I'm great with other dogs at the moment so it is important that you keep up my positive socialisation so that I remain dog-friendly.
I'll need puzzles and toys like kongs and other enrichment feeders to stimulate my brain. And most of all I'll need on-going training, to make me think and keep me learning. I already know basic commands but there is so much more than that out there!
Ideally, I would like my new family to be really serious about trying a fun hobby with their new dog. Agility, competitive obedience, dancing with dogs, flyball.... you name it, it's out there and it sounds AWESOME!
I just know that lots of people will fall in love with my handsome face and gorgeous nature, but I'm looking for only the most perfect home. If you think you've got what it takes, enquire today!
In your enquiry, please tell us as much as you can about yourself, your family (kids, other pets etc) and what your plans will be to keep Essex happy and stimulated.
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
