About Charm ~ Great Dane X (on trial 31/7/18)
Charm is an affectionate 4 year old Great Dane X female. She has a gorgeous tiger-striped brindle coat and very longing eyes. Charm is a real people oriented girl who loves being with her family whatever they are doing. She loves to explore nature and adores her daily walk.
Charm is very good with children but would be best suited to children over 10 years of age as she can get over excited when playing. She gets on well with both large and small dogs but is unsuitable for cats, pocket pets and caged birds. Charm loves to play tug, running and being chased. Her favourite toys are sticks and balls but she is happy doing anything as long as she is with her family.
Charm is a bit of a snuggler and will rest her head on your knee then gradually try to crawl into your lap. She likes to spend time in the lounge room on her bed or next to you on the lounge if invited. She can use a dog door and is house trained. Charm is extremely well behaved indoors and will follow you around or find a comfy place to have a snooze. She is happy to sleep all night indoors in her crate or on a comfy bed. On warmer nights, she has been sleeping happily outdoors, on the deck and loves her kennel.
Charm is used to being part of a very loving family and is currently living happily with two other dogs, a retriever and a Labrador. Charm can sit for her food and is able to wait until told to eat. She walks well on lead and can walk past excitable dogs without a bother.
Charm’s perfect home would be with an active single, couple or family with older children. Due to her size she may knock over toddlers when excited (she is slightly taller than a Labrador). Her new family will need to be prepared to continue with training as she is a large dog. She will need to be allowed indoors when the family are at home. Charm can be a little anxious at times and may cry, however she has made great progress and is now able to be left alone while her carer goes to work. She would love to be an only dog so as to get all her human’s attention however she would also enjoy having a doggie friend to play with. Charm will require a high-quality diet as she does appear to have some allergies, possibly to plants and red meat. She will require a moderate to large yard with 5-6 foot fences due to her size.
Charm is a delightful girl and it is easy to fall in love with her. She is a gentle soul but can be a little timid at first but once comfortable loves to play. Charm loves to ease up next to you and get a firm pat on her rump. Does Charm sound like the right girl for you?

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
