About Lara ~ Cattle Dog x Foxy (on trial 26/5/2018)
Gentle Lara is a Cattle x Foxy who we think is approximately 4 years of age. Lara was saved by the local ranger who was taken by her beautiful, loving nature.
Lara is looking for a caring home where she can share her unconditional love with her human family. Her favourite activity is to snuggle up on the lounge with her humans. Although she is perfectly content to sit on the lounge, she also enjoys walking and is easy to walk on a lead. She has comfortably managed walks of up to 1 hour, quite happy trotting alongside her Beagle foster brother and following him (and his nose) into the bushes.
Lara needs a family where at least one person is home most of the time and therefore would not suit full time workers. Ideally, she would suit a retiree seeking a companion dog. She is used to sleeping indoors and will happily snuggle up in your arms and sleep the night away if allowed.
Lara has been socialised and is fine with other dogs, as long as they are also gentle natured. She is currently living with 2 Beagles who love to play fight and chase each other. Most of the time, she is happy to sit and watch, however at times, she will get involved and can enjoy active playing for a short while.
Lara would be best suited for a family with older children. She hasn’t been with cats and we recommend she be introduced slowly to other dogs initially. She would be quite happy as an only dog.
If you are after a gentle dog who will love you unconditionally and provide you with ongoing companionship, she is the perfect dog for you.
For more information or to meet Lara, please contact her foster carer Tracey on traceyleach@bigpond.com.au or 0425 316 966 via text message. Lara is in foster care in Lake Macquarie, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Lara’s adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
