About James (AV1015)
**Several applications have been received, however you are welcome to be placed on a wait list.
Well hello. I'm James. I'm a gentle soul and a loving boy who is looking for a new place to call my own.
There are a few things that are important to me but this is the big one... I LOVE other dogs. In fact, it is essential that I be adopted to a home with an existing pooch to be my best bud. I used to live with another dog and she was the bees knees, I mean I know everyone says that their sister is the best but wowee, she was amazing. Then our parents split up and I lost her. It was pretty heartbreaking for me!
I'm now living with a couple of little fluffy dogs - a lot of people think that greyhounds can't live with smaller animals but that's not always true! I like these little guys but they're kinda already buds with each other an being the 3rd wheel sucks. I think I probably would like to live with a bigger dog to be honest, just because it's good to have a playmate your own size you know? Another greyhound would be cool, but any friendly playful dog would be amazing.
Now, I don't want you to think that I will love my doggy friend more than you! I definitely want to love you too. It's just that dogs have always been nice to me whereas people... well, not quite the same story. I was bred to be a racing dog, like all greys, but I was just no good at it. I like to run, don't get me wrong, but racing wasn't my thing. I was born, and lived the beginning of my life, outside in a kennel. When they eventually realised, a few months before my 2nd birthday, that I was a 'waste of space' as a racer, I was lucky enough to be given up for adoption. My mum has been amazing but like I said earlier, my parents had a relationship breakdown and now my mum can't keep me anymore.
I'm as gentle as they come and haven't a mean bone in my body. I love to be near you, but not super close (let's all respect personal space, hey?) One little quirk I have is that I don't like going through doorways. I like being inside and I like being outside, but getting from one to the other can be scary. When I lived in a kennel there was a lot of going through doorways and it was never ever fun so this is why I'm apprehensive.
I'm quite a shy and reserved lad at the moment so I need a loving family that I can trust. I have ever so much love to give in return for a safe place to call my own.
I would really love to find a FOREVER home and stop having to move around so if you have a home (and another dog!) for me, get in touch today.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Sincerely, James
PS I was told to tell you that I have a "green collar." It's a title that we greyhounds can receive to state that we are safe to live in the community and that we don't require muzzling.
PPS Okay just one more thing. Have you SEEN that picture of me wearing my jumper? Is it not the cutest thing you've ever seen? Pretty sure you need that in your life.
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
