About Oakley ~ Staffy x Border Collie (on trial 25/5/18)
Meet Oakley! He is an 11 week old Staffy x Border Collie puppy. He is a sweet little boy who loves human company and would make a great addition to a family of any size. Oakley is well socialised with other puppies and adult dogs and gets along well with all of them. He loves human attention and will follow you around all day just to see what you’re up to. He is also fond of fetch and even brings the ball back … most of the time.
Oakley has had a rough start to life and carries a few lumps and bumps, but is thriving with a little TLC and expected to recover completely. Oakley will need this TLC continued which includes the requirement for someone to be home at least part of the day for feeds and supervision.
Oakley’s ideal family will be able to spend lots of time with him teaching him new things and understanding that he is still a puppy and will do puppy things. He currently sleeps in a crate next to another dog.
Oakley will grow up to be a medium to large dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training. It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Oakley. If you don't have another dog to keep him company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time.
Oakley needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. He will be wonderful family dog. He is currently living with a toddler, however being a puppy loves puppy play and may be a bit rough with young children until he is a bit older and appropriately trained. You need good fencing with no small gaps.
Oakley's sister Cricket is also available for adoption.
As Oakley is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he is approximately 5 months old.
For more information or to meet Oakley, please email his foster mum Melissa at melissapollo64@gmail.com. If you would like to meet Oakley or apply to adopt, please email through an adoption questionnaire. Oakley is located in Newcastle, NSW.
Oakleys's adoption fee is $550 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and he's been treated for fleas and worms.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
