About Stan MD0030
Hi I’m Stan and I am a special boy! I am almost 2 years old, a calm happy little dog weighing around 15kg. I am also deaf. Once you have my attention with eye contact, I am easy to train with sign language.
And there are some extra precautions to take and extra effort from you because of my deafness. Here is a link to a website that describes the special considerations for living with a deaf dog http://deafdogs.org/training/ The two most important of the considerations to note are teaching me and others how to prevent a startling reaction ensuring my safety at home and when we’re out and about.
My favourite hobby in the evening is curling up against you on the cough and off course the belly rubs, I love them so much! Adopted when I was a pup but my owners could not put the time into training me and hence I took the opportunity to explore the sheep in the paddocks around the farm. They were just so great to chase and have fun with but my owners didn’t like that and so here I am looking for a new home. I am very good with food so if you have a bit of time you can show me how to learn sign language and I’ll be your best friend. I am good with other dogs both big and small as well as with children. In the beginning I would prefer a secure garden just until I got the hang of coming back when signalled. I walk nice on lead and my foster parents have started to show me the basic commands, which I love to do because I get delicious treats!
It might seem a lot of effort, but before long it will be second nature to you and we will develop an incredibly special bond :) If you think I’m the one for you, click on the link below and complete an application.
