About Calista (AV1014)
My name is Calista and I'm a vibrant, happy, friendly youngster looking for a new home where I can love and be loved in return.
I have all sorts of awesome skills like sniffing things and investigating interesting trees and running around excitedly. I'm also very very good at loving people! I'm hoping to find a person who is very good at loving me back.
Life is really super exciting, have you noticed that? Amazing things happen all around us every day and sometimes I think that people forget to pay attention but dogs are very good at noticing the wonder.
Perhaps your routine is getting old and tired and you need a little helping hand to feel the joy and see the wonder once again well here I am to give you that helping hand (helping paw?)
I crave love, attention, guidance and exercise. I'm young (barely more than a puppy) so you'll need to be keen to walk me every day (preferably twice!) I know my basic commands but that big, amazing world can be distracting sometimes so you need to have a desire to continue building on my existing knowledge and training me throughout my life.
I'm super optimistic about everything and I know good things are coming for me super soon. I really hope they don't take too long - I've spent the past few weeks in the pound and let me tell you, no matter how positive you are about life in general some negativity creeps in when you're stuck in the pound! It's a really stressful place to be and it has really gotten me down. I've got this extra pent-up energy and I'm feeling a bit frustrated and sad.
But it isn't masking all my cute quirks. Like how much I love water! I've been temporarily staying with a lovely emergency foster carer and she has this amazing thing in her yard. It's a great big hole in the ground and it is FULL of water! Have you ever seen one of those? I was so excited but I had never seen anything like it and when I tried to investigate it I fell in! Whoops. I'm very skilled at the doggy paddle though (maybe next Commonwealth Games I can compete for the country. Doggy paddle is an event, right??) I also love to play with water coming out of the hose, that's a great game we can play together.
So you will need to respect me in all my unique and amazing ways. I am good with other dogs as long as they are good with me! If they start something I will react, but if you have a docile, social dog I could be the best friend it's looking for.
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
