About Texas
Looking for a loving companion? Meet Texas!
This boy is all about the love. He loves his people – like really loves his people. Texas is extremely human orientated and is friendly with everyone that he meets. When at the park he is the dog that runs over and says hi to you with a big smile and happy wagging tail. Once he has got your attention, he loves pats and is more than happy to roll over for a belly rub. Texas has a lovely nature and is naturally a submissive dog who just wants to enjoy life. He is affectionate and sweet, and ready to have fun.
Texas also has a great nature with other dogs. He is very social and well mannered with other dogs and is likely to submit if intimidated. During his time in care he has been to the dog park and walked along with all the other dogs but hasn’t played with any – maybe he doesn’t know how? Or maybe he’s just more interested in people. Texas is an active dog who does require daily exercise and stimulation. He would make a great running partner with a bit more lead training so you didn’t trip over him. Otherwise is you are up for adventures or good walks, then he is definitely a dog you can take along with you.
As Texas is still a pup he still has some things to learn and practice but has been progressing well. He can sit and has learnt to walk on a lead. Out on walks he now spends most of the walk just walking next to you. He is pretty good off-lead as he will follow you along but hasn’t learnt recall yet so that is something that needs to be worked on. Texas would benefit from an experienced owner who is able to help him catch up on his training and who could take him along to some training classes. He can be a little jumpy in his excitement to share the love with people but with some further training and maturity he will be able to settle down. He picked up toilet training quickly in his foster home, sleeps well through the night and travels well in the car.
We are looking for an active and experienced home for Texas where he will be a part of the family and included in the daily activities and outings. As he loves human companionship so much he will need a home where someone is home more often than not. Alternatively, there may be another friendly dog around to keep him company when you’re out. Texas should be allowed indoors to be with the family at least when you home and he will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night. He is better suited to older children that he cannot knock over accidently. This boy’s happiness is infectious and his zest for life will have you wanting to get out and explore the world with him.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
