About Amber
My Name is Amber and I need to tell you my story
I know you can tell from my eyes that I am scared but I need you to understand me so you can maybe help me find my Happy Ever After
You see my foster mum says “Happy Ever After’s” happen all the time and that there is a really special person out there looking for me.
I didn’t have a name before I came to live with my foster mum in fact I didn’t have anything.
When I arrived here 3 months ago I had sores... Lots of sores that made my mum cry and I was so scared I would cower and shake if anyone tried to come near me...People were bad and they had hurt me badly. I never received any attention or house training before I met my foster mum. It’s hard, because I’m still learning that it’s ok to ask for things without fear of retribution, but I’m trying and I know I’ll get there.
My foster mum has been so patient and kind and she has shown me that people can be gentle and warm and that they don’t all hurt you. My foster mum makes my heart fuzzy and I love it when she cuddles and snuggles me and tells me I am beautiful
She is my favourite human but she says she is only “borrowing” me until my own human finds me. She says I am funny and friendly and loving and smart, that I will be the most loyal little dog and my own human will love me just as much ( if not a little bit more) than she does.
I think I am in trouble though because I am not brave when new humans come along.. I still need to run and hide until they go. Mum says it’s so important that I let them see me and stroke me and that it will be fine.
I know I just need to be a little bit braver.. But I can’t and if I can’t how will they know I am their girl?
I suppose I just have to keep hoping that someone will see that I am special enough to take a chance on.. To forgive me my shyness and believe me that I am so desperate for love from them.. It will just take a little patience and time.
Mum says if my “Happy Ever After” doesn’t come along I may go to stay with another “borrowed” family who will love me just as much as she does and they will teach me that there are other people besides her that I can trust – and that will make me braver (she cries when she tells me that but says its best for me)
Thank you for listening – Love Amber xxx
