About Dakota ~ Border Collie x (on trial 2-5-2018)
Introducing gorgeous little Dakota. A loveable, bouncy puppy with an inquisitive personality. Dakota is a pleasure to look after with her playful antics and affectionate nature.
Dakota loves company and is not a dog to leave alone in your backyard. She just wants to follow you around and loves nothing better than falling asleep on your lap on the lounge. Dakota is a confident, robust puppy with a lovely nature. She is currently living with an older Labrador and enjoys following him around for walks and curling up with him to sleep.
Dakota is very well behaved and easy going for a puppy. She is smart and easy to train and just wants to please. She loves her food and will sit and wait patiently for her dinner. She is not toilet trained, but learning fast.
Dakota had a rough start to life and her history and breeding are unknown. She most likely has a sheep dog background and will be a high energy dog that will need plenty of regular exercise to keep her mind and body healthy. She does have mellow side to her, however, and is happy to laze around during the day.
Dakota would be ideally suited to a family that will incorporate her into their daily lives and have her in the home. She would be better suited to older children who can participate in training her. She does need company so she would suit an adult that is home more often than not and she would be a great friend for a calm, larger companion dog . She is not suited to younger children, smaller dogs or cats because she can become boisterous whilst playing. She will grow into a medium to large sized dog and needs high secure fences to keep her safe.
As Dakota is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
If you are after a gentle, loving and faithful companion then Dakota is the puppy for you please contact her foster mum Lucy on 0434 430 720 or lucyhollard@idl.com.au. Dakota is in Whitebridge, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle).
Dakota's adoption fee is $550 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
