About Dobby
Dobby has a special set of circumstances and would suit a home where the owners are there most of the time, he needs to be an inside dog with lots of love and affection. He would be well suited to an experienced dog owner or retired couple whose grandchildren visit but are not there all the time.
Dobby has recovered amazingly well after being abandoned in a house after the owners moved out. How long Dobby was left alone we are unsure. We know that he should be an 8 to 10kg dog and when found weighed 3kgs and covered in matted fur which needed to be cut off.
Because of these events Dobby is quite timid, has some trust issues and may take a few days to accept you. As he has been around people more he is less timid and more accepting. While he is okay around children if they leave him alone, he is not suited for a house with children full time as any sudden movements make him uncomfortable and he may give a warning snap and scare the child. He is good around other dogs and likes his walks. He is not food aggressive but can be territorial and has been known to snap and growl.
He did have terrible ear infections when he arrived and while this has been treated he is still wary about people approaching his head and may give a warning snap.
Initially he ignored the other dogs in the house but is starting to learn how to play. He is very smart, worked out the doggy door pretty quickly and now knows ‘sit’ and ‘ahah’. Dobby walks well on a short lead but will growl at passing dogs. As with all dogs, additional training will be repaid by devotion from this smart, loving boy.
He is very loving and just wants affection. If you are after a cuddle bum this is your dog and with lots of affection, time and patience he will learn that there is nothing to be afraid of and become the dog he should have been.
