About Doug DB340
Meet Doug.
A highly social, energic and gorgeous little pup. Doug will do anything to have a cuddle. He may look like a big tough dog but deep down he is a big sook.
His inside manners are very good once he has calmed down after the initial excitement of you being home. He has leant to sit and stay on his mat when his people are cooking dinner or are not wanting him in a certain area.
He is toilet trained and sleeps in his foster mums bedroom at night on his own bed which he sits on when asked and does not move off of until the alarm go off in the morning, then he promptly pops up for a morning snuggle.
Doug only barks if a stranger approaches the house, once he knows who they are he will stop barking.
Being a Kelpie x – Doug does need daily exercise, his foster carer often runs him or at least a walk. He can pull on the lead a bit but once calmed down he is fine.
One thing Doug hasn’t worked out yet is the correct way to socialise with other dogs. He can be quite defensive and can growl at a dog walking past and become quite strong. In this instance his foster carer just walks straight past and he shortly gets over it. He has been introduced him to their parent's little fluff balls and once he knew he could trust them he was fine for them to be around and they got along quite well. We believe with work on how to behave around other dogs Doug will get over his issues as he is only a puppy.
Doug absolutely adores people and children. Anyone that walks past he can't wait to approach and give one of his big special cuddles to. He has had children run up to him for a pat and he has been totally fine.
Being only 8 months old Doug has learnt quite a bit. He knows how to sit, shake and stay! He is also very gentle when giving him a treat.
** Essential Criteria: Doug needs a home with another playful female dog and with an owner familiar with working breeds. Doug will be a large dog and will need to continue training and socialisation **
