About Penrith (CaV18-69)
Hey there, I'm Penrith (or Pen for short). I'm told that my name is Penrith because I look like a panther - apparently you have to know something about rugby to understand that?? I can't say that I know much about rugby but I would definitely love to watch it with you, all cosy and snuggled up on the couch together. We can watch something else if you like, or just read a book... I just want to be with you.
I may look like a big tough guy - beaten up and scarred, kinda rough round the edges - but inside I am the biggest, squishiest, marshmallow of a cat you'll ever find. I have lived a lot of my life on the streets doing it tough but all I really want is to love and be loved in returned. I really like food a lot, but I like attention and pats even more.
Good deep scratches behind the ear are excellent, as are loooong strokes from the top of my head to the tip of my tail. I can take it all day long, I swear.
Some people say cats are snobbish or aloof but I couldn't be further from that. If you have a lonely space in your life and you want a truly adoring cat to fill it, well here I am!
When I had only been in my foster home for 10 days, I went off to the vet to get desexed. When I got home, there was a small disaster in the driveway and my carrier broke open. I was frightened, a bit drugged and wearing a silly plastic cone on my head but I still bolted off and couldn't be found. I was missing for 2 whole days but then I arrived back (still with cone on!) at dinner time. That's proof that I really do love people!
Unfortunately in my time out on the streets, I picked up this annoying thing called FIV. It's like HIV in people (sort of) but you absolutely, definitely can't catch it from me or anything! It's actually really hard to spread around. Because of this, my immune system isn't as tip-top as another cat's might be. I need to be strictly a totally indoor cat (or have access to a fully enclosed cat run). I can still live a long and happy life, you just need to make sure I stay healthy as if I get sick, I won't have as much oomph to help me get better.
I get on well with other cats so I could live with another FIV positive kitty. I also don't mind dogs. But I definitely want lots of your attention too!
My foster mum says I'm totally amazing and whomever adopts me will be one lucky family. I think she would like to keep me herself, but she already has lots of other kitties and I deserve somewhere that I will get SO much love.
Oh did I mention I'm totally FREE to adopt?!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
