About Mabel (CaV17-230)
Dear, sweet little Mabel is a tiny wee girl who seems to plan on staying small!
Mabel is gentle, sweet and affectionate in her own way. She adores other cats and would be perfect if you have a lonely kitty looking for companionship.
For such a young kitty, Mabel has a pretty big life story so get ready.
Mabel first came into care when she was just 4 months old. She was caught in a cat trap in a small country town; when she came into care, it became very apparent that this was her first interaction with humans! She is endlessly gentle without a mean bone in her body however she has this amazing habit of pretending to be a turtle... she finds a bed, or a blanket, or anything at all and promptly disappears underneath it.
Mabel truly was just a baby when she arrived, which is why it took us some time to realise that she had a secret growing inside her - this little baby was going to have babies of her own!
On the last day of October, 2017, Mabel brought her two tiny kittens into the world. They were painfully small at birth and tragically, only one survived. However, miracle Mabel then took on an orphaned kitten and raised him as her own, alongside her sweet little girl.
Her two kittens are now well and truly grown up themselves and are in loving homes of their own. We think it is finally Mabel's turn!
Mabel is the perfect housemate. She's neat and tidy, not fussy with food and keeps you company without getting in the way. She'll come and snooze on your bed or beside you on the couch, but she isn't a lap kitty or a pick-up-and-cuddle cat. It's important to remember how much Mabel has been through and where she came from. Her first instinct is still to run and hide so in her new home, settling in is likely to be a long and slow process. A very, very worthwhile process - but long and slow nonetheless.
Young children are not Mabel's cup of tea, unless they are happy to leave her alone 99% of the time. She has been living with a staffy and 3 other cats and she LOVES the company of other kitties. So a home with other pets will be fine, with a sensible introduction of course.
Mabel isn't an 'instant cat.' She's a cat to take if you truly want to offer love and hope to an animal in need. If you really want to 'rescue' a kitty, then this is the one for you!
Mabel's adoption fee is reduced to just $25, to help her find the perfect home. (if you can donate more towards her vet work, this will most certainly be appreciated!)
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
