About Millie
Darling Millie is a sweet, soft girl with a very kissable little face. She loves some lap time and is just the right size for a lap - she is just so delightfully soft and snuggly. We have listed her as a medium dog, but although she has long gangly legs, she is a very light framed pup and will be on the smaller side of medium when she reaches her optimum weight (probably 10-12 kg). Millie is friendly to all humans and also loves her doggy friends. She came into care with a much younger, smaller pup called Molly and they are great friends, often to be found curled up together. While Molly is very little she is still the boss of Millie, and Millie doesn't mind that at all. She also enjoys playing with the big dogs and trying to keep up with them. Millie can take a nap just about anywhere, and often prefers one of the bigger dog beds with the grown up dogs. She is a quiet presence around the house, and naturally polite and well mannered.
Millie was brought to us from a remote community in the APY lands where she was hanging out with Molly trying to eke out an existence. No-one claimed her, so with permission from the locals she was brought in to us for rehoming. She is doing so well in care, gaining weight and strength, and really enjoying the security and comfort of her foster home. She is a very rewarding little one to care for, and we feel she would make a great family pet as she is so loving and lovable.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Millie's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. Millie is currently in foster care in Elliott NT.
Medical notes
Millie is a little clumsy and is a bit weak in the back end. We think she may be mildly affected by cerebellar hypoplasia (a condition in which the cerebellum, which controls motor skills and coordination, is not completely mature at birth). This is a non-progressive condition. She is able to run, play, wrestle, jump up on a couch and down, but she will never be an athlete, and has a low to moderate exercise requirement.
Adoption details
We request that prospective adopters email us with an initial enquiry. We will forward an application form. On receipt of the application form, we will make phone contact to discuss the adoption. We try hard to match the dog to the person, ultimately looking for the best fit for the dog. Shipping fees are included in the adoption fee. We ship from Alice Springs airport to interstate homes.
