About Opal
Hi! My name used to be Coco but now it is Opal. I was given a new name to go with my new life. When I was just a baby, only 17 weeks old, I had an accident with a car and came off second best.
My owners at the time who just spent a lot of money to buy me a few weeks earlier didn't want to spend a large amount of money to fix my broken leg, so they asked a good vet to put me to sleep...
There is a reason I say a "good vet" this vet was very compassionate about my dire situation and they knew my leg could be fixed so I could have a happy long life ahead of me!! So they called the people at Arctic Rescue Victoria who picked me up that evening and took me to emergency so that my leg could be fixed without any delays.
I had to have a plate put in my leg to help it mend and went to a new home with my foster mum and my foster siblings. Unfortunately, it has taken longer to mend than we thought, so I spent most of my time in confinement. I've just had more X-rays and it looks like I'm nearly 100%. I'm now allowed to spend more time with my foster siblings. I love teasing and playing with Bella; she is my favorite. Aurora and I have a lot of fun too. Boss thinks I'm just a silly little girl, but at least he doesn't run away from me all the time like Capri does. I'm not allowed to go with the big kids on their long walks, but my foster mum and I get alone time when we go out every morning just the two of us. I like to find treasures on our walks to bring home. I've found coffee cups and tissues and soooooo many sticks.
My foster mum is trying to teach me to walk nicely on the lead, but sometimes I get really excited because there are so many cool smells around. We get to meet other dogs on our walks too. I like meeting new friends, but sometimes I don't realise that I'm a big girl now and can be a bit energetic with little dogs, but I'm trying to remember to be gentle.
I like to talk and I love to sing. I think I have a beautiful voice. Sometimes I like to snuggle on the couch but mostly, I like to play with everybody. When my brother and sisters get tired of playing, I'll make my foster mum play. I like to chew toys and the squeaky ones are my favorites. I like playing with balls too. I love playing with the hose and biting the water. My foster mum takes me in the pool sometimes, but that scares me a bit. The hose is much more fun.
Did I mention that I'm beautiful? Seriously, I'm a stunner.
