On Hold
About "Anna", Mum's the word. Melbourne.
Anna recently had her last litter of pups and is finally ready to leave her breeding days behind. Anna is a lovely mature-age girl, with many mum-like qualities. Her warmth and genuineness are a pleasure to be around and she’s careful to make sure that everyone feels loved, and spends the same amount of time patting her. She also keeps a mum-like eye on the household schedule (especially dinner-time) and loves to be busy, hunting for pats or treats. Anna is happiest in the hubbub of family life – whether she’s hanging out in the kitchen or spending time with the kids.
Anna seems to prefer humans to dogs, and would like a household with plenty of company. She still has a few things to learn about being a dog, and is getting better at playing with other dogs, and walking on lead. She’s started to play fetch, but is hilariously goofy and overenthusiastic when it comes to playing with toys (her favourite squeaky toy had to be confiscated, because she spent the whole night checking if it still squeaked!) She’s very food-driven – even stealing apples off the tree! – which makes training easy. Anna is possum-obsessed and therefore not cat-friendly.
Anna chatters with pleasure when she’s surrounded by her people, and we can tell there’s a lot of love left in this gorgeous girl. If you look past her greying muzzle and her older-lady teeth, you’ll see a heart of gold, moulded from life experience and ready to share.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
