Muckaty

Muckaty is a great dog. He is small medium in size (weighing in at 16 kg), but has a nice solid build and a calm presence. He has the build of a heeler, and the head and coat of a kelpie but is smaller than both. He must have some stumpy tail cattle dog in him though because he has no tail, just a little bobble, and the Vet thinks it was like that from birth. He is a trustworthy fellow - stays close by when he's off the lead and has no interest in running off. He was in the Pound for a while and was great with the dogs there, and has been wonderful with all the dogs in his foster home (especially sweet and playful with the puppies). He is very respectful of humans and listens and tries to do what is asked of him. He is just a naturally cooperative boy. For instance he had never walked on a lead and was quite confused initially, but as soon as he realised what was required, he was great on the lead from then on. He would be fun to take to obedience classes because we think he would be dux of the class. While he enjoys his walks, he has a moderate exercise need, and when he's home he has a lovely calm presence in the home.

Muckaty came to us from the Tennant Creek Pound. He was in good condition and obviously well cared for, but though they advertised him widely, no one came forward, so he has made his way to us for rehoming. He would be a great family dog, a great mate for another playful dog, or great as a constant companion too.

Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Muckaty's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. Muckaty is currently in foster care in Elliott NT.
