Hi people! Shucks, this is what my foster carer says about me, “Odie is a beautiful young boy who so far is getting on fabulously with our 8 year old dog and our children (11 and 8). He is happy both inside and outside. His defining mark is his white tip on the end of his tail which he curls and wags a lot when he is happy. He proudly stands at 22 cm tall from ground to his back and has to take a run up to jump onto the lounge - which has us all giggling. He is yet to be able to jump up onto a normal chair! He tends to be very playful in the evening and likes shaking his sloth soft toy. He rarely barks while inside but if he is spooked by a bird or lizard or our dog barking, he will bark outside - otherwise you wouldn’t know he is there. Our daughter is currently trying to teach him to sit and stay which he is yet to master. He is happy to be led on a lead with a harness around our backyard, walking with our son or daughter. He loves his food and devours it quickly, but he likes to bury his treats outside rather than eat them.”

Want to know more about how to teach me to be a great pet? I’d like 5-10 minutes of daily training so that I learn and practice the commands of sit, stay, come, down, no, stop and leave it; and so I always obey what you tell me to do. Consistent, clear boundaries will mean that I always know the right way to behave. And of course, socialising with lots of people, dogs and other animals is important too. Getting out and about to exercise at least once a day is vital for me as it stimulates my brain and body, creates opportunities for me to socialise and it tires me out. It will stop me from creating mischief at home!!!! I like to gently nibble fingers to play which is a ‘no-no’ for dogs. If I’m tending to do that, give me a chew toy instead.

A few hours flying is absolutely worth it for remotely located animals if it means we have the opportunity to be adopted. My airfare to Perth is $150 thanks to QANTAS, and I can fly elsewhere in Australia too.
