About Teddy ~ 3 legged cat (on trial 11-4-2018)
Meet the very special Teddy. Teddy is a 9 years young cat who is ready for some loving! Teddy is a healthy cat and very curious. He loves to see what you are eating and what you are doing.
You may notice Teddy is a beautiful black cat. His photos reflect what a truly beautiful cat he is in looks and in nature. You will see, in the photos, Teddy looks a little bit different to a normal cat.
Teddy has 3 legs as a result of a recent traumatic incident where he was chased and attacked by 2 bigger dogs who were roaming off lead. He was badly injured and hid for 5 days under a house before his owner could find him and take him immediately to the vets.
After several operations to save Teddy’s leg and thousands of dollars in vet bills, unfortunately Teddy lost his back leg and it had to be amputated. A few weeks later, his owner found out they had inoperable cancer and can no longer look after him. They are devastated they have to re-home their beautiful boy.
Some things about Teddy
He is a typical cat and loves to push things off the table including ping pong balls, so is really fun to play with. He likes to sleep in bed with his owner when it’s cold but when it’s hot, he will find a cool place in the house. He doesn’t like to sit on your lap but does like to be near you. He loves to be brushed.
He would be suited to an older, maybe retired couple or a couple working part time. However, if you do work full time, that will not be a problem as Teddy will find somewhere to snooze the day away. He hasn’t been in contact with children and as a result, he would be more suited to a home without children or rehomed with older children (over 10 years of age).
We are looking for a special home for a special boy.
Teddy needs the following:
a home without another dog (or if there is another dog, the dog must be extremely cat friendly)
a home without another cat
No children under 10 years of age and we would prefer he be rehomed in a quiet household, preferably with an individual or couple.
Teddy’s adoption fee is $100. He is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and flea treatment is up to date.
We are looking for the right home for this beautiful boy. If you would like to apply for Teddy, please email Eve for an application form at emckenzie77@yahoo.com.au or call Eve on 0400 43 99 77.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
