About Maisie ~ Kelpie x Cattle dog (on trial 8-4-18)
Say hello to Maisie, the pup with the Dobby ears. At 11 weeks old, you could be mistaken for thinking this girl had some Rotti in her as she is a solid little unit! She is super soft and adores cuddles and will grow to be on the large size of medium, judging by her paws.
Maisie was born on a property and has not had a lot of socialisation. Whilst she adores people and other dogs, she hasn’t been taught good manners yet, so it will be imperative that her new family are committed to puppy training classes straight up when they adopt her. Being a working breed, she will be smart and easy to train.
She is a little frightened when meeting new people or seeing a new place for the first time. This is simply down to lack of exposure and will get better as she learns the world is a fun and happy place. She adores chasing her sister around the yard and will definitely need another dog for companionship and reassurance. It would also be preferable if she is not left for long hours at a time. 5ft fences and a nice warm bed inside until fully grown are also a requirement.
Maisie would love a family to grow with, however will not be suited to small children as she jumps up a lot. A big backyard will be a must along with lots of exercise and brain stimulation when her family are out doing people things. Maisie also loves water and can often be found sitting in her water bowl. So if you have a pool or go to the beach a lot, that would be her dream! She is going to make an incredibly loyal and loving family member.
Maisie's sister Misty is also available for adoption.
As Maisie is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
For more information or to meet Maisie, please contact her foster carer Lauren on hitthesand@hotmail.com. Maisie is in Salamander Bay, NSW .
Maisie's adoption fee is $550 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
