About Ila ~ Kelpie x Cattle dog (on trial 10/3/2018)
Ila is an 11 week old Kelpie x Cattle puppy. Her mum was a stumpy tail cattle dog and Ila has inherited the very cute stumpy tail. Her tail when wagging is a sight to see - so very cute!
Ila is a very sweet pup who is very playful and alert. She is watchful for all the fun things around her and wants to be included.
Ila is ready to learn and will need consistent training and activity being a very smart pup. She would benefit from going to puppy training to learn the basics. She can sit, come when called and is doing well with her toilet training although does have a few accidents. You need good fencing with no small gaps. She can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).
Ila, before coming into care, was an outside puppy with her mum and litter but is adjusting to having time inside. She just loves being inside when someone is home as enjoys the company. Ila will need a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate as she would be too lonely on his own. It would also be good if someone in the household doesn't work full time.
Ila has started having very small walks around the street and is adjusting to a walking harness. She loves her chew toys and is happy to spend time with them. Ila is sleeping inside and while a puppy we would like this to continue.
Ila would make a great family dog with children 8 years and older. She is very much a puppy and has sharp teeth and does jump up when excited. Ila is learning to sit instead of jumping up but it is a work in progress.
As Ila is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
If you would like to meet Ila please contact his foster mum Sharron on 0423 331057 or email sstudley3@bigpond.com. Paddy is being looked after at Merewether Heights.
Ila's adoption fee is $600 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
