About Meeko ~ Cattle Dog x (on trial 4/4/2018)
Meet happy, lovely boofhead boy Meeko! Meeko is a 6 month old Cattle X. He is a friendly and affectionate boy who loves being around people and other dogs. He is playful and loves playing tug of war, running around with his toys, or splashing in the paddle pool. He is always keen for a cuddle or a pat, and has caused quite a few humans to fall in love with him already!
Meeko will be medium size. Meeko has quickly learnt some basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘shake’, ‘go wee’, ‘come’ and waiting for his food. He is quick to learn and eager to please, especially with positive reinforcement and a few tasty treats. As with all dogs Meeko will need plenty of attention, exercise and training.
Meeko spends most of the day outside but needs to be welcome inside with his humans whenever they are home. Meeko currently sleeps enclosed in a laundry through the night and once in bed sleeps soundly until the morning. Meeko is very good at going outside to the toilet.
Meeko has met lots of different dogs and gets on well with all of them. He is currently living with 1 other dog and they have a ball wrestling and running around. He would be best suited to a home with human or fur company during the day.
Meeko loves going for walks and though he will benefit from formal training, he does well on lead with other dogs and alone. Meeko has not had exposure to cats and may not be suited to living with them. He has a loving personality and would be suited to a family with children 8 and over.
Meeko has not shown any tendency to jump over fences but will need secure fencing and gates with a minimum 5 feet. He does not bark often.
Meeko may experience some anxiety in his new home at first but this will settle. He has also had some car sickness on the limited car trips he has done with his foster mum.
Meeko is a beautiful boy who is looking for a loving forever home.
For more information or to meet Meeko, please complete the adoption questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx and send it to her foster mum Jenn on jenncaine@gmail.com. Meeko is in foster care in Mayfield, NSW.
Meeko’s adoption fee is $550 and he will be available from 22nd March. He is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. Meeko is not available for adoption interstate.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
